EDINBURG —UTPA announced Monday that Cody Hopkins, who was on the staffs at North Texas and TCU during the last four years, is now an assistant coach for the Broncs men’s basketball team.
Hopkins was part of the administrative staff for the North Texas men’s basketball team last season. During the previous the seasons, he was the Director of Operations at TCU, where he was responsible for the program’s overall budget, travel arrangements, summer camps and clinics in addition to the video exchange program.
“There’s a lot of energy and a great vision for the program. I can’t wait to run and gun with them. I’m extremely excited to be a part of this,” Hopkins said.
A native of Dallas, Hopkins returned to Texas after spending the previous two seasons at Indian Hills Community College in Iowa. He helped the Warriors post a 30-3 overall record during the 2008-09 campaign, including a top NJCAA ranking at the start of the season. In Hopkins’ two seasons with the Warriors, the squad posted a 58-13 overall record.
