Muslims should relocate mosque
To the editor:
There had been so much controversy lately to the extent that more than 50 percent of Americans oppose the building of the mosque near ground zero. It could possibly erupt into a deadly violence among opponents and supporters. A simple solution to placate all this turmoil would be for the imam and the organizers to retreat from building the mosque on this site, and simply choose an alternate site outside of New York City. If the imam and the organizers are reasonably good Muslims who promote peace, then they will respectfully choose an alternate site, and preach to their supporters the goodness of this decision. It unfortunate that a division has further occurred. The imam’s spouse stated recently while being interviewed, "they hate us." Americans don’t hate Muslims. Most Americans are tolerant and respectful of each others’ religions or faiths. But, unfortunately, the terrorists who attacked on 9/11 were Muslims, and most Americans have come to associate all terrorist groups with Islam.
