Monitor launches online education forum

How many of you checked the day of the week at the top of the page when you saw my column in today's paper because you are accustomed to seeing it every Tuesday? Well, special occasions call for special columns.

During the past year, many readers have responded online about columns I have written on issues dealing with education. Readers have comments, ideas and opinions to share about topics such as curriculum, student behavior, programs schools are considering or have already adopted.

Thus, imagine my enthusiasm when The Monitor's online editor, Adam Wratten, informed me about the paper's new online forum dedicated solely to education. The forum allows anyone with Internet access to "chat" about best practices in education, likes and dislikes about things in our school system and any other education-related topic. And it's so easy to use.

First go to www.themonitor.com. Along the right-hand side, you will see the words "Publish your Stuff." Underneath this, there are five icons. One of them is "forums." Click on it. There are eight forums available. Click on the word "Education." Then all you have to do is register one time, and you will be able to "chat" as often as you'd like about all things educational.

My hope is that many readers will take advantage of this opportunity to get involved in the education debate. Let's get this forum party started.
