Three car wreck sends two to the hospital
Comments 0 | Recommend 0PHARR - Two people were sent to the hospital after a three-vehicle wreck that happened at the intersection of Jackson Road and Violet Avenue/Minnesota Road Avenue Tuesday, according to one of the people involved in the accident.
The injuries sustained by the people sent to the hospital were minor, said Lt. Guadalupe Salinas, public information officer of the Pharr Police Department.
Edinburg resident Brian Gonzales said he was driving northbound on Jackson Road when a woman driving a Ford Expedition eastbound on Violet was struck by a white truck traveling southbound on Jackson.
"All I saw was her car in the air," said Gonzales, 29.
Gonzales tried to avoid her and swerved to the right side of the road. The tire marks from his truck were still visible on the grass that afternoon.
The woman's SUV flipped and struck Gonzales' Ford F-150 on the back driver's side.
An ambulance took the driver of the other truck and a passenger of that vehicle to the hospital, Gonzales said.
Crews were sweeping up pieces of the SUV's shattered windshield glass from Jackson Road as officers took down information from the drivers. The truck that struck the Expedition was parked near the middle of the intersection; its hood was smashed in and front bumper hanging off the vehicle from the impact.
