Someone tosses $50K out of Reynosa taxi

REYNOSA — The federal police is looking for the owner of $50,000 that was thrown from a taxi in a black plastic bag.

According to federal authorities, witnesses reported Saturday that the bag had been thrown from a white and green taxi. The bag landed on the pavement on Morelos Boulevard on the Ampliación Rodriguez subdivision.

The incident was reported to the federal authorities. It was not clear why the case was reported to the federal authorities and not to the local or state police, since the incident is under their jurisdiction.

When the federal police got to the place, they were able to see through a slit that it contained U.S. bills, according to a press release from the Federal Secretariat of Public Safety (SSP).

The bag was seized and taken to the Federal Assistant Attorney, who counted the money.

In total they found 10 packs, each with 100 $50 bills.

The case remains under investigation.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Mexican authorities at denuncia@ssp.gob.mx.
