PHARR — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized about $876,000 worth of methamphetamine hidden in a commercial truck Saturday.

The seizure happened during an examination conducted at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge import lot, according to a news release from the federal agency.

A CBP officer referred a 1998 Kenworth tractor hauling a utility trailer with a shipment of cucumbers for secondary inspection, officials said. CBP officers performed an intensive examination and discovered 23 packages containing a total of 58 pounds of methamphetamine hidden within the trailer.

Authorities seized the narcotics and the tractor trailer.
