PHARR — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized $1.2 million worth of cocaine at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge Friday.

Officers found the cocaine in a vehicle driven by a woman from Reynosa, Mexico, according to news release from the federal agency. Authorities did not release her identity.

A CBP officer referred the 1998 Isuzu Trooper she drove for a secondary examination, officials said. After conducting an intensive inspection, CBP officers discovered nearly 40 pounds of cocaine wrapped in 16 bundles.

Officers turned the driver over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation.
