Hidalgo County adds jobs, drops jobless rate in April
Comments 0 | Recommend 0McALLEN -- An addition of 3,800 jobs to Hidalgo County helped the local unemployment rate drop to 5.7 percent in April, the lowest ever for the spring month.
Hidalgo County's unemployment rate during March was 6.4 percent, not adjusted for seasonal factors, according to the Texas Workforce Commission.
Cameron County's jobless rate fell to 5.4 percent in April, down from 5.8 percent in March. Texas' unemployment rate was 3.9 percent.
Again, retail trade led Hidalgo County in job growth during April, adding 800 jobs.
