PENITAS -- Penitas Police chased five suspected illegal immigrants down Expressway 83 Monday night before the men escaped in Alamo.

The chase started around 10 p.m. near FM 1427 in Penitas. Police chased a Dodge Neon to a Wal-Mart in Alamo, said interim Police Chief David Harris.

"The five subjects bailed and we don't really know what happened to them," Harris said.

No one was injured during the pursuit.
