Neighbors stunned by hate speech painted on house

Jeremy Roebuck

McALLEN - Police are investigating a series of hate-filled messages left on a north-side home.

Neighbors on the 3300 block of 28 1/2 Street discovered the racially-themed graffiti, which includes references to the Ku Klux Klan and orders to “Go back to Africa,” on Tuesday morning.

A day later, cartoonish depictions of a black woman and a statement that “We don’t like your kind” remained spray painted across the home’s garage door, entryway and brick exterior.

Although the black family that owns the home has not lived there for several months, neighbors told officers they do not condone the graffiti’s sentiments and that they were willing to help clean up the paint.

Police urge anyone with information on this incident to call 687-8477.
