PHARR — A fight at an east-side home early Sunday ended with one man dead, another critically wounded and a third behind bars.
Police responded just after 12:30 a.m. to a disturbance at a home on the 800 block of East Chapa Street, just south of Expressway 83 between Cage Boulevard and “I” Road.
There, they found two victims suffering from stab wounds, according to Pharr police Lt. Joel Robles.
The first victim, a 42-year-old man, died at the scene.
Emergency responders rushed the second, an 18-year-old, to McAllen Medical Center, where he remained in critical but stable condition late Sunday night. Officers are withholding both men’s identities pending notification of family members, Robles said.
Benjamin Bravo, 25, of McAllen, was arrested at the scene and arraigned on murder and attempted murder charges later in the day. He was transferred to the Hidalgo County jail on a $1.24 million bond.
Investigators are still unsure what caused the altercation.
If convicted, Bravo could face life imprisonment and a fine of up to $10,000.
