Valley native chosen as 'Breakfast in Bed' mom

Sharon Uhlaender ate breakfast on national TV Friday.

The 1972 McAllen High School graduate was served pain perdu and strawberry scones by celebrity chef Emeril Legasse live on ABC's "Good Morning America."

Uhlaender, born Sharon O'Connell, won GMA's annual Mother's Day "Breakfast in Bed" contest. The mother of two is a principal's secretary at Wimberley High School, where according to the show, she served as a den mother and guidance counselor to students.

The show set up a bed in the central Texas town's gymnasium and served Uhlaender, 53, before a cheering crowd, including her children and her husband, fellow McHigh grad Mickey Uhlaender.
