A gang member was arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting that left one man with a bullet wound to the face last month in Alamo.

Sheriff's deputies arrested Jose Adalberto Reyes Jr. at Rudy's Country Store & Barbecue in McAllen on Monday.

Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Treviño said the man had four arrest warrants with the county. These were for a felony burglary, a felony assault, a motion to adjudicate and an arrest evasion.

The sheriff said he will likely be arraigned today on attempted murder charges filed by the Alamo police department.

Reyes is a documented member of the Vallucos gang, which is based in Hidalgo County, Treviño said. The gang has about 800 documented members throughout Hidalgo, Cameron and Willacy counties. About 73 of them are awaiting trial in Hidalgo County, Treviño said.

"They are a dangerous gang," the sheriff said. "They make their income mostly through drug running and aggravated robberies."
