SAN JUAN - A juvenile suspected of cutting his neighbor with a knife after she refused to take off her clothes was detained by police for questioning Monday.
The man approached his neighbor's house, near Iowa Avenue and First Street, to ask her for a glass of water, San Juan Police Inv. Rolando Garcia said.
But when she let him inside, police say, he pulled out a knife and demanded that she take off her clothes. She refused, and he attacked her, slicing at her arm as she fought him off, Garcia said.
Officers responded to the neighborhood after receiving 911 calls from neighbors who heard the woman screaming for help.
The woman was taken to McAllen Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
Garcia said the woman did not know the man well but recognized him because he lived just a few houses away.
Witnesses alerted police that the man, who they too recognized, has run back into house after the attack, Garcia said.
