Lamar De La Garza and Hugo Garza, Jr. were united in marriage at 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church in Edinburg. Reverend David James Moreno united the couple in a double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Rene & Sylvia De La Garza of Edinburg, and the granddaughter of Robert & Gilda De La Garza of Edinburg, and the late Alfonso & Gloria Avila of Sharyland.
The groom is the son of Hugo & Alma Garza of Edinburg, and grandson of Ramiro & Lucy Garza of Edinburg, and Aurora Salinas and the late Armando Salinas of Edinburg.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore an elegant drop waist gossamer gown with floral appliqués with a two-tiered cathedral length wedding veil adorned with Swarovski crystals.
Matron of honor was Gloria Rankin, sister of the bride.
Bridesmaids were Sofia Garza, sister of the groom, Lauren Steigman, Mix Reyes, and Eloisa Vela.
Best man was Miguel Garza, cousin of the groom.
Groomsmen were Robert Rankin, Roque De Leon, Carlos Rios, and Ronald Leon.
Flower girl was Calista Harr of McAllen, and ring bearer was Benham Echeverria of College Station.
Ushers were Robert De La Garza, brother of the bride, of San Antonio, and Javier Garza, cousin of the groom, of Edinburg.
A formal dinner and reception was held at the Echo Hotel in Edinburg. Johnny Joe Productions provided photography, as well as fantastic music for a fun-filled evening of dancing.
The five-tiered/five-flavored wedding cake was decorated with navy blue roses and satin ribbons. It was provided by Elite Cakes by Nancy Lee. The groom’s cake, also provided by Elite Cakes, was a Playstation 3, equipped with a controller and a stack of games the groom enjoys.
The newlyweds enjoyed a five day honeymoon trip to Las Vegas, Nevada.
The bride graduated from Edinburg High School in 2005 and the University of Texas-Pan American in 2010. She is employed as a Physical Education teacher at Magee Elementary in Edinburg.
The groom graduated from Edinburg High School in 2003 and the University of Texas-Pan American in 2009. He is employed as a Juvenile Supervision Officer at the Judge Mario E. Ramirez Juvenile Justice Center in Edinburg.
The couple resides in Edinburg, Texas.
