Tiesto, arguably the most popular and successful DJ in the world, will be on South Padre Island this Friday, April 2.

Tiesto, who hails from the Netherlands, will play his gig at Schlitterbahn Waterpark. The show coincides with Semana Santa, which sees droves of Mexican tourists flock to The Island. Tiesto boasts a massive international fan base, and his early 2010 tour runs through Brazil, Thailand and the United Kingdom.

The DJ also sports an impressive resume. He performed at the opening ceremony of the 2004 Olympics in Athens. In 2007, he also played the main stage at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, a slot typically reserved for rock acts. Tiesto's music has also earned a Grammy nomination. In the coming months he will play at the massive Winter Music Conference in Miami and he will return to Coachella.

April 2 marks his first trip to South Padre Island. Concert organizers say they will host a contest to find local talent to open for Tiesto. After the on sale event, tickets will be available at www.ez-tixx.com and www.tiesto.com.
