Downtown crowds will do 'Thriller' dance on Friday night
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Zombies will swarm South 17th Street in McAllen’s Downtown Entertainment District the night of Friday, Oct. 30, and at the stroke of midnight they will break into Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” dance as a tribute to the King of Pop.
Jasmine Rico-Garcia, with the help of the city of McAllen and the Beatnik Agency, has taken on the task of teaching the Rio Grande Valley how to do the “Thriller” dance as part of the “Thrill the World RGV” event. So far, more than 100 people have learned the choreography.
The “Thrill the World” phenomenon was started in Canada by dance instructor Ines Markelle, whose goal it was to inspire the world to do the “Thriller” dance and break the world record for most people dancing simultaneously. The international “Thrill the World 2009” event happened Oct. 25, and 4,179 dancers participated.
Anyone who is interested in attending to watch or join in is welcome to Friday night.
