WIN TICKETS: Sevendust and Drowning Pool concert

The Monitor

Fans of alternative metal, rejoice: Sevendust and Drowning Pool are joining forces for a show Monday, March 22, at Las Palmas Race Park in Mission. The last time the two bands rocked the Valley was in 2007, when both bands played separate shows at the now-defunct Graham Central Station.

Sevendust will be touring in support of their eighth studio album Cold Day Memory, which is scheduled to drop April 20. The band reunited with original guitarist Clint Lowery for a venture the band describes as “more musical.”

“I put a lot of pressure on myself to contribute good material to the guys after being gone for the last three records, and that helped me focus more than I ever had,” Lowry said on the band’s official Web site.

The album’s first single “Unraveling,” was released in early February.

A new era begins for Dallas-based band Drowning Pool with their fourth album scheduled for release April 27. After three different lead singers on three different albums, the band is finally sticking with latest frontman Ryan McCombs.

Their first single, “Feel Like I Do” is available for download on iTunes. The band is best known for 2001’s controversial hit “Bodies.”

Both bands will be joined by Free Reign, featuring members of the Dallas Cowboys.
