It might be summer, but there are thousands of kids who wouldn't mind going back to school to check out High School Musical: Summer Celebration, which is coming to the Valley.
The production, which will put on two shows on Aug. 29 at the McAllen Civic Center, features songs and dances inspired by all three movies from the hit Disney series.
Tickets go on sale Saturday for $20, $25 and $30 at Wireless Toys Valleywide, Cavender's, Melhart Music, www.ez-tixx.com and the McAllen Convention Center, located at the intersection of Ware Road and Expressway 83.
Front section, VIP tickets will only be sold at the McAllen Boys and Girls Club.
The High School Musical franchise has been responsible for jumpstarting the careers of its young stars Zac Effron and Vanessa Hudgens. The third installment of the film, which was the only one to hit theaters, made $42 million in its opening weekend, making it the biggest opening for a movie musical ever.
The performances will take place at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. The McAllen Civic Center is located at 1300 S. 10th St.
