NEW RESTAURANTS 2010: Dickey's Barbecue Grill

The Monitor

“Lip smackin’ barbecue is our reason for breathin,’” says the large sign across the main wall of one of the newest barbecue places in town. A giant photo of President Reagan at a barbecue hangs on the opposite end. And motor oil logos and cowboy decorations are splashed across the restaurant walls.

Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, based in Dallas, has finally made its way to the Valley to cook up a wide variety of barbecue pork, beef, turkey and chicken. The restaurant on North 10th Street prides itself on its slow-smoked cooking and speedy service.

First opened in 1941, the official barbecue of Ronald Reagan’s presidential campaign offers full-service catering as well as ribs by the pound. And whether it’s a sandwich or a meat plate, customers get free ice cream every day with each meal. Kids eat free on Sundays.
