Popular Arts District café will finally get new home
Ambrosia coffeehouse moves uptown
Ambrosia Coffee and Tea will be reopening this summer in a new location and will have new features, like a drive-thru.
The locally owned coffee and tea house that offers organic brews and all natural fruit smoothies closed its door in November last year after being open for only four months. Owner Nick Anzaldua gave up the prime art walk location in downtown McAllen and decided to start fresh this year.
The new Ambrosia will be located at 6501 North 10th Street, near Trenton and Dove Avenues.
"This is where all the traffic is for people going to work. Main Street was difficult," said Anzaldua. "My own girlfriend would go to Starbucks because it was right next to her house."

Ambrosia became known as a hot nightspot for those interested in open mic nights, which featured different musici, poetry and stand up comedy. The coffeehouse also hosted concerts with local bands often each week.
"We're going to do shows once a month and I'm thinking open mics, maybe on Monday, but kind of early in the evening," said Anzaldua.
A date hasn't been set yet for the grand opening, but Anzaldua expects it to be within one month. For more information on Ambrosia, visit www.myspace.com/ambrosiacoffee.
