Annual electronic music fest returns to SPI in March

The Ultimate Music Experience will feature three headliners over three days during spring break starting at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 15, through Saturday, March 17, at Schlitterbahn Water Park at South Padre Island.

Headlining the first day of the electronic music event is super-DJ Tiësto. This will be the Dutch DJ's third appearance in the Rio Grande Valley. DJ Hardwell will also perform.

On the second day, hitmaker Avicii will grace the UME stage as the main act. He's known for remixes of tracks by Tiësto and David Guetta and songs like "Bromance." Opening for Avicii are the duo Cazzette and trance artist Kevin Focus.

Rounding out the three-day event is electronic music sensation Skrillex, who was recently nominated for five Grammy awards. Also performing on the last day will be electro-house and dubstep artist Porter Robinson and 17-year-old electro artist Madeon. 

Local acts will be added to the line-up, as well.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21. A limited number of early-bird tickets will be sold for $65 for a general admission three-day pass and $100 for a VIP three-day pass.
