THE SIREN: Kim Snyder
Passion exudes from Kim in everything she does - music, art or even just discussing her favorite TV show. She knows how to turn the sex appeal up, but has many other facets that would surprise her most die-hard fans.
Listen to this: If you sample the sensual song "Sleepwalkin" from the album "Better," you'll likely find yourself wanting more. While the track invokes thoughts of a hot, humid night at a smoky bar in the ‘40s, less familiar instruments and sounds modernize the song. Snyder's voice works well with both vocal jazz from decades ago and the more modern girl-pounding-on-a-piano genre. http://www.myspace.com/kimsnydertrio

What's the best rumor you've heard about yourself?
"That I'm a diva and that I'm hard to work with. It's not true, not true."
Favorite drink? "I'm surprisingly a beer girl."
What's the one item that makes you feel sexy?
"Lipstick, lip gloss, anything like that."
Why is music important to you?
"It heals me. It's the reason I wake up in the morning."
Why did you break up with your last boyfriend?
"It just wasn't working. I know that answer is very broad. But, I am a lot of woman. My personality is big. Music and art and everything sounds very attractive and they think it's going to be this really awesome thing, but once they get into really living that --what with the packing up and tearing down and all the grit that it really is - it isn't so fun after a year or two. It's a high maintenance lifestyle. But I refuse to give it up for a man or anyone else."
Name three qualities that make a guy sexy.
"Determination and motivation ... I have to say looks and if that's going to be shallow, then it's shallow - I'm into the tall, dark and handsome and wit, clever wit."
Any hobbies other than music?
"Surprisingly, I cook and garden, I'm in the Junior League, which surprises most people. I do community service."
Would you ever date someone less attractive than yourself?
"Yes, and have! It's fun to be the cute one."
Do you prefer your make up dramatic or natural?
"It depends on if I'm performing or if I'm in a professional setting. I run the whole gamut."
Who do you have a celebrity crush on?
"What's interesting is I tend not to have celebrity crushes. To me, it's kind of an untouchable thing. I have local celebrity crushes, like musician crushes. It's going to make people laugh because he's like, 80 years old. Rene Sandoval. I have the most amazing crush on him. He is jazz."
12. Craziest thing to happen at a show?
"This is the reason, and I hate to have to do this, I don't let people sit in the way I used to ... someone came up and used a lot of racial profanity against me."
What's the most romantic thing someone can do for you?
"Y'know, there's been so many beautiful things that have been done for me and I think back and one of the greatest gifts is having a song written for you and performed on Valentine's Day and then the roses brought to you and the whole thing. I look back at that and think, 'Wow. That was really special.' But now, like, 12 years ago and I think maybe that was a bit over the top. Now it's the little things. It's little things like the guy that knows what kind of candy you like and it's only a dollar, but he brings it for you. Or he brings you coffee in the morning. Knowing to say the right thing at the right time. Now it's more about the sweet, little things instead of the grand gestures. And I'm finding that being able to be the girl that writes the song for the guy is cool also."
Who's your favorite designer or favorite store to shop at?
"Lately my favorite has been Nicole & Co."
What makes a relationship work?
"I really wish I knew. I still believe in trust and trying to let go of old ghosts and baggage. Try to build something together and keep things light."
When a guy is deemed a "good friend", can he ever become more than that? "I have so many pure plutonic friends. I would never cross that line. After that, then what?
Can you cross over though? Yeah, you can. You're risking a lot, but you could. It could be a really great thing, or it could be a disaster."
If you could suddenly have a new talent, what would be it be and why?
"Guitar, guitar, guitar - or bass, either one. It's so powerful, so empowering."
How do you feel about plastic surgery?
"Botox and microdermabrasion ... I'm up and down with it. I do know some women who've done it and it looks very unnatural. I want to be natural. I'm on the fence about it. Liposuction and face lifts, really invasive surgeries scare the hell out of me."
As a musician, what is the absolute worst thing that could happen at a show?
"Bad sound or power out. Bad sound makes people think you're a bad musician."
Why do you believe you were chosen as one of the hottest women of local music?
"I'm still trying to figure it out! It could be the persona I project when I perform, which is larger than life. I've been doing this a long time and I'm comfortable with myself and who I am - so if it's a list for who's hot or sexy, it's about the confidence. Confidence is sexy. It's not about showing as much skin as you can, it's about confidence and talent and putting yourself out there."
