Stereoside isn't just your average, garden-variety rock band.
"You're not going to see a band rock harder than us. You're definitely going to feel the passion in our music - it's like a kick in the teeth, but in a good way," said front man Jeff Shields.
In other words, they'll rock your face off.
The four-piece hard rock band left their hometown Ocala, Fla., to go on tour and promote their year-old debut album, So Long.
The band was born nearly three years ago when drummer Chris York, guitarist Ben Foster and bassist David Oliver were looking for a lead singer. They discovered Shields, the "Tallahassee Idol" of 2003. He traveled a bit and ended up in Nashville, Tenn. where he learned a lot about the technical aspects of music. Shields had opportunities to pursue a career in country, but he had other plans.
There was immediate chemistry between Shields and the other band members when they met up in 2007 and began to write music together. Not long after, Stereoside released an album with Bieler Brothers Records.
They've been touring lately throughout the southern states and will make a stop in McAllen on Tuesday.
"Last summer we were supposed to come to McAllen," Shields explained. "We were in Houston at the time and heard there was a lot of flooding and the club we were supposed to play was actually under water, so they had to cancel. We get a lot of support from the radio stations down there, so we told our booking agent that we really wanted to get down to McAllen, you know, these guys are really supportive, so he hooked it up."
