FESTIVA NEWS: The Never Say Never Festival lineup revealed
Forever the Sickest Kids, a popular power pop group, will play a local festival this spring with 19 other acts from across the nation, a local promotion company has announced.
But they're staying tight lipped on who those artists are - for now.
Dontgetemo Productions, the group responsible for booking concerts this year ranging from Taking Back Sunday to Shwayze, announced plans for the festival this week. And they have started revealing artists at 4 p.m. each day online and through text message.
The event, dubbed the Never Say Never Festival, will happen March 18 at the Pharr International Convention Center. The concert spans the entire day. A limited number of early sale $20 tickets will hit on December 26, available at Nowhere Clothing on North 10th Street and www.ez-tixx.com. Tickets officially go on sale for $25 January 9.
So who else is playing?
They won't tell you. Dontgetemo plans to trickle the information out through its MySpace page at www.myspace.com/dontgetemodotcom and through text message. You can sign up for text message updates by texting "dontgetemo" to 41411. Updates will continue through the holidays.
The promoters have announced Alesana, The Scene Aesthetic, A Skylit Drive, Lights, and Forever the Sickest Kids as the first five bands. Forever the Sickest Kids ranks as the top "get." Many of the other acts played the Valley this year, but the Kids cancelled due to transportation problems. The MTV Buzzworthy band is back though.
Proceeds from the event will also benefit the Keep-A-Breast Foundation, which works to fight cancer by teaching young people about prevention and early detection.
