When "Razor" Dave Benitez wrote "Hearts on Fire," he followed the lead of all great metal music writers.

He wrote the songs massive, epic riff and went from there.

"I just wanted something that had a big riff in the beginning," Benitez says. "In this kind of music, the lyrics take a backseat to the groove and the rock. These lyrics are about going after your dreams and doing what you want to do."

Benitez plays guitar for Warryor, the Valley's long-rocking metal trio. And fans have devoured his song writing and that riff. Hearts has racked up nearly 365,927 plays.

Meanwhile, the guys have done as Hearts suggests - they've followed their dreams.

Warryor has signed on with Musicworks Entertainment, a Las Vegas-based label founded by Quiet Riot and Rough Cutt's front man Paul Shortino. Shortino, a heavy metal veteran who appeared in the genre defining rockumentary This is Spinal Tap, even produced the band's debut album, due this spring.

"Some of the songs we have geared toward radio, he really brought them out," Benitez says. "You listened to them and it was like, ‘wow, this could really be a single."
