When Festiva asked Zeri to add a song to the Infinite Play List, the band wanted to give us an exclusive acoustic version of one of its popular tunes. But after recording it at Evident Music Studios in Corpus Christi, Zeri couldn't resist posting "Aunque Tenga Que Mentir" on MySpace. The trio from Mission was that excited about it.

"We liked it so much because it shows a different side of us," says Zeri, the band's lead singer and namesake.

Zeri wrote the song and sang. It deals with a couple of friends he knew. The pair was very close, but they had problems with their relationship because they had been friends for so long. Zeri says everyone, including himself, can relate to being "just friends" with a romantic interest.

And that's how he writes most of his lyrics. He takes an experience from his life, mixes it with how he is feeling at the time, and releases it through song writing. Drummer Alex Lopez and lead guitarist Hector Arizipe put his writing to music, and a song is born. That's how the band's upcoming debut album was written. That disc, six years in the making, is set to be released later this year, possibly with a distribution deal by a major label.

But first Zeri will play Saturday's Yuju Music Fest on South Padre Island, and the band is stoked.

"Especially because it's in the valley," Zeri says. "For us, the people in the valley have treated us very, very well."
