NEW RESTAURANTS 2010: Caribbean Taste

The Monitor

If you’re in the mood for fresh food and a tropical setting, Caribbean Taste offers a menu with Haitian-inspired dishes at affordable prices.

Grilled tilapia, oxtail and Caribbean wraps are a few of the customer favorites at this McAllen eatery, and to top it off, lunch specials are available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a free drink.

The beach-like décor continues the theme of the restaurant, owned by Haiti native Esther Etienne. Bamboo branches adorn the walls and ceiling, while paintings of Caribbean settings and dashes of bright colors on the walls and the napkins exude a casual and sunny atmosphere.

To further complement the restaurant is a tropical-themed bar which serves a variety of wine and beer.

“I have been here several times before, and I like it”. Said Manuel Pacheco, who is from Puerto Rico but now lives in McAllen. “Especially with my developed taste in Caribbean food”.

If you want a casual and tropical experience with authentic Haitian flavor, Caribbean Taste may be just the place for you.
