Grupo Fantasma, a 10-man band from Austin, will bring its funky Latin style to the Valley.
The group, fresh off a Grammy nomination, will play a show at Inca Del Sol in Brownsville. The venue, formerly known as the Sholem Dance Hall, will host the all ages show 8 p.m. Friday.
Grupo Fantasma is a hot band right now. They played a blistering set at November's South Padre International Music Festival. They also played for a crowd of thousands at Bonnarroo, another massive music event. Meanwhile, the group has earned some powerful admirers in the music industry.
How powerful? Ever heard of Prince? He's a self-professed fan, and he often uses them as a backing band. They have played with Prince in London, at the Coachella Valley Arts and Music Festival at the Super Bowl.
That's right, Prince. While the Purple One likely won't show up in Brownsville, Grupo Fantasma definitely will. And you should catch the funk before it gets huge.
