Alfresco Weslaco jazz and art on the street festival kicks off New Year Jan. 17

The Alfresco Weslaco Jazz and Art on the Street celebration will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, on S. Texas Boulevard. There will be artists, potters, sculptors and more showing and selling their wares along the boulevard, along with food and beverage vendors selling sodas, tacos and more. The event will also boast a classic car show.

The festival will feature headlining act Bongo Dogs out of South Padre Island. The large band is known for having a blend of jazz, reggae and Tejano sound, and they recently released their second album, Viva Caliche. The band will begin playing at 7 p.m.

This event is free and open to the public. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, kick back and stay a while. For more information, call (956) 969-0838.
