WESLACO — The director of a Weslaco day care center was arraigned Wednesday on a charge of injury to a child in connection with an alleged attack on a 4-year-old boy, city officials said in a news release.
Yolanda Rodriguez, the administrator of Happy Days Learning Center, 1411 W. 18th St., allegedly assaulted the boy Saturday in response to his misbehaving, the news release states. Police noted bruising to his arms, back and the back of his neck.
Rodriguez, 55, of Weslaco, was formally charged in Weslaco Municipal Court with injury to a child, a third-degree felony. Her bond was set at $10,000. If convicted, she could face up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
She was released on bond Thursday from the Hidalgo County Jail.
