WESLACO — State troopers arrested a Weslaco man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident last month.

Jesus Adolfo Reyna, 25, faces one charge of failure to stop and render aid in connection with the Oct. 17 death of Samantha Barron, said Trooper Johnny Hernandez, a local spokesman with the Texas Department of Public Safety. The 12-year-old Mercedes girl was struck and killed as she crossed Mile 5 North Road along Mile 4 West Road, south of Weslaco.

Reyna was arrested Tuesday afternoon in Weslaco.

Failure to stop and render aid in an incident involving a fatality is a third-degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

Reyna had not yet been booked at the Hidalgo County Jail as of late Wednesday afternoon.
