Warrant issued for second suspect in Father's Day slaying
Comments 0 | Recommend 0WESLACO — Police have identified a second suspect in the slaying of a 26-year-old woman during an apparent botched robbery.
Investigators believe Ray Vincent “Vinnie” Vallejo, 30, broke into Donna Lee Bocanegra’s home on the 1800 block of West 6th Street and fatally shot her when she resisted.
Her mother, Manuela, was also injured in the June 21 attack but managed to crawl outside of the house and flag down help.
Officers have already charged 19-year-old Lionzo “Baby Lee” Galvan Cantu for his alleged involvement with the break-in, after a two-week surveillance operation at his Alamo trailer home.
Galvan was charged with capital murder and attempted capital murder during an arraignment hearing June 28. Vallejo is expected to face similar counts upon his apprehension, said Weslaco police spokesman David Molina.
He is described as a 5-foot-6, 132-pound Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes. He has an extensive criminal history including convictions on child endangerment, burglary and evading arrest charges and should be considered armed and “extremely dangerous,” police said.
