PaperCuts: What is it? $3.59 or $3.55?

For the second time this week, I've been mislead by the gas prices displayed by convenience store marquees -- but in a good way.
I've twice gassed up this week, once at $3.46, then again today for $3.55. The thing is, the first earlier this week prices were displayed at $3.49, but the price at the pump was three cents cheaper. Of course, I didn't complain.
