PALMVIEW -- Authorities continue to investigate why an SUV went off La Homa Road, crashed and burst into flames early Monday morning.

The driver of a Lincoln Navigator lost control and crashed into a tree near of the intersection of Mile 3 and La Homa roads about 5:45 a.m., said Trooper Johnny Hernandez, a Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman.

A 32-year-old Mission woman was inside the vehicle, which caught fire afterwards. Firefighters extinguished the blaze.

The woman was wearing her seat belt and was not injured, Hernandez said. Troopers do not know why the SUV lost control, but said that the woman was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time.

Troopers continue to investigate the accident.
