Underoath, a metalcore band from Florida, has toured nearly every corner of the world. There are some exceptions, and the Rio Grande Valley is one – until Monday night, that is. The Christian band will make the drive south to play at Las Palmas Rack Park in Mission.

The six-member band has been a strong force in the Christian hardcore scene since 1997, but they didn’t start to experience mainstream success until 2004’s They’re Only Chasing Safety, Underoath’s fourth album. With the release of the following album, Define the Great Line, Underoath suddenly found themselves playing the main stage of the Vans Warped Tour in 2006. The band’s reign on top ended when they pulled out of the tour early amid controversy and rumors. Underoath members claimed they needed to focus on their friendships rather than the tour.

Lost in the Sound of Separation was released last year, but the band continues to perform in support of the album, headlining a tour that includes August Burns Red and Emery.

Organizers have paired Underoath’s show with acts from the Pacsun “Pac-Tour” featuring Saosin, Innerpartysystem, Eye Alaska and rapper P.O.S.
