The Monitor

REYNOSA — Four suspected Gulf Cartel members will remain behind bars as they face allegations of operating a kidnapping ring busted last year, said the Mexico attorney general’s office.

Prosecutors said Jose Manuel Martinez Contreras, Ivan Timoteo Carbajal López, José María Rios Ortiz and Juan Armando Baxín Málaga kidnapped 31 people in Reynosa in December 2009.

Federal police arrested the four suspected cartel members in that city on Dec. 11 and rescued 29 victims. Officials did not say what happened to the other two victims.
