World Series champion Garcia visits McAllen students

Jaime Garcia, pitcher for the World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals, spoke to students at McAllen’s Theodore Roosevelt Elementary on Wednesday. He shared a message about working hard to achieve dreams and his experiences growing up in the Valley and playing baseball. Garcia is from Reynosa, Mexico and attended Sharyland High School in Mission. Garcia won 13 games for the Cardinals this past season. The lefthander also started and pitched two games in the World Series (both no-decisions), struck out 10 batters and had an earned-run average of 1.80. The Cardinals defeated the Texas Rangers in seven games to claim the World Series title.
