Event offers health resources for seniors

McALLEN — Winter Texans in need of health screenings or advice can get many of their needs met this week.

The Winter Texan Expo and Health Fair is going on from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Thursday.

The event features screenings to help seniors learn more about their hereditary risks for cancer.

On-site clinics also will examine seniors' blood pressure, oxygen levels, vision and body fat percentages. Seniors can also attend informational health seminars.

Attendees are eligible for various door prizes like CDs, gift certificates and vouchers for fishing trips.

Scheduled entertainers include a John Wayne impersonator, dancers and folk music.

This is the 16th year for the health fair.
