DPS seizes nearly $500,000 in Willacy County

SEBASTIAN - DPS troopers seized nearly $500,000 from an 18-wheeler traveling in Willacy County Thursday evening.

Troopers stopped the vehicle for speeding as is traveled southbound on U.S. 77 near Sebastian around 6:30 p.m.

Upon searching the vehicle, troopers discovered 29 bundles of cash totaling $497,000 in a false compartment. Both the driver and passenger denied ownining the cash and were released.

DPS continues to investigate the case.
