Magic Valley Electric Co-op will cut power to 4,000 homes and businesses in the McCook, San Manuel and Linn areas early Saturday morning.

The company will turn off the power to make system improvements between 5 and 10 a.m. Saturday, according to a news release from the Co-op.

“Power outages are a necessity when it comes to specialized work that cannot be safely performed while electric lines are energized,” the release states. “Out of consideration for our customers’ safety and security, we have scheduled this outage at a time when electric usage is non-critical.”

Workers for American Electric Power, which transmits all electricity to the Rio Grande Valley, will be upgrading the wires to a higher voltage, said Danella Hughes, the communications coordinator for Magic Valley.

Customers with questions can call Magic Valley at: 1-866-225-5683.
