NORTH OF DONNA — Hidalgo County sheriff’s deputies are searching for two armed robbers who threatened a convenience store owner and her teenage daughter Thursday evening.

The robbery occurred about 9 p.m. at Los Cuates Drive Thru, 2301 N. Hutto Road.

The shop owner said both subjects entered the store, one of them holding what appeared to be a rifle or shotgun. The gunman asked the 31-year-old woman for money, and the other person grabbed two 18-packs of beer from a cooler and walked out of the store.

The gunman then fired a round into the ceiling, again demanding money. The woman’s 13-year-old daughter became afraid and gave the man $150.

The criminals were last seen heading west on Marie Drive in a dark-colored Ford Taurus. They are described as Hispanic males; one of them is thin and the other one heavy-set.
