Hidalgo County road closed due to rain

SAN JUAN -- Continued rain has forced a road closure in Hidalgo County Precinct 2.

Cesar Chavez Road between Sioux and Eldora roads has been closed due to flooding, according to Precinct 2 Commissioner Hector "Tito" Palacios.

"San Juan PD is running traffic control. The road will be closed until further notice," Palacios said in a news release.

In addition, several colonias were facing flooding issues Saturday.

Palacios said he and Precinct 2 workers were out in the field evaluating the situation and getting pumps to flooded locations.
