REYNOSA — Soldiers here seized more than 2 tons of marijuana Friday afternoon, officials said.

A military convoy patrolling the city found 135 marijuana bundles hidden among brush at the Rancho Grande community about 3 p.m., according to a statement from the Mexican Defense Ministry. The marijuana weighed more than a ton. An hour later, authorities found a similar stash in the same area.

The marijuana had a combined weight of 4,800 pounds, the Defense Ministry said. The military turned over the drugs to the appropriate authorities.

No arrests were made in connection with the seizures.
