Wedding: Diaz-Gonzalez

Valerie Nicole Diaz and Abel Noe Gonzalez III were married at 3 p.m. on June 13, 2009, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Pharr, Texas. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Rev. Jose Encarnacion Losoya, Rev. Leo Francis Daniels and Rev. Mario Alberto Aviles.
The bride’s parents are Linda and Pete Diaz III of Edinburg, Texas. Parents of the groom are Gracie and Abel N. Gonzalez Jr. of Rio Grande City.
Grandparents of the bride are Ramona Diaz and the late Pete Diaz, Jr., and the late Sarah and Natalio Saenz. Grandparents of the groom are Maria Elia Gonzalez and the late Abel Noe Gonzalez, and the late Lorene and Roberto Pena.
The bride wore a classic full A-line Christos gown by Amsale. The romantic silhouette was designed in exquisite English netting and finished with a ruched bodice and sweetheart neckline. It was embellished with intricate hand beaded embroidery and delicately trimmed with tiny hand crafted silk chiffon flowers at both the bust line and chapel train.
The Fenaroli for Regalia crystal headdress was fashioned in delicate floral patterns that complemented details on the gown. Attached was a double-tiered silk tulle cathedral length veil fashioned in silk tulle edged with fine silver threading and highlighted with swarovski crystals.
For something old, the bride wore a hand crafted silk garter accentuated with lace from her mother’s wedding dress.
The bridal bouquet was fashioned with classic roses and peonies in varying shades of white. It was wrapped in silk ribbon accentuated with a crystal broach encircled by crystal bands.
Maids of honor were sisters of the bride, Caren Diaz of Edinburg and Kristian Diaz of Corpus Christi.
Bridesmaids were Vanessa Recio of McAllen, Michelle Ramirez of Alice, Iris Garza of Pharr, Denise Rodriguez of Edinburg, Kristan Silva of Austin and Alexia Andrade from Rio Grande City.
Flower girls were Briana Diaz and Marina De Leon.
Best man was brother of the groom Jorge Gonzalez of Rio Grande City.
Groomsmen were Pete Diaz IV of Edinburg, James Falcon of San Antonio, Carlos Gutierrez of San Antonio, Richard Smith of San Antonio, Bobby Lopez of Rio Grande City, Roy Rodriguez of Edinburg and Lupe Gonzalez of Harlingen.
Ring bearers were Ashton Saenz and Josue Barrera.
Ushers were Kevin Palmer, Rodger Rodriguez, Jonathan Silva and Oscar Simo.
Padrinos de Lasso were Jorge and Melinda Barrera, Padrinos for the Bible and Rosary were Aaron and Lina Diaz, Padrinos de Arras were Jerry and Blanca Canales and Padrinos de Cojines were Roel and Rosita Gomez.
Vocalist was Marcus Canales.
A reception was held at the Cimarron Country Club.
After a wedding trip to the Hawaiian Islands of Oahu and Maui, the couple resides in Edinburg, Texas.
The bride graduated from Texas A&M University at College Station in 2001 with a Bachelors of Arts in English and graduated from the University of Texas-Pan American in 2009 with a Masters in School Counseling. She is currently employed with Edinburg CISD at Edinburg North High School as a Tutorial Facilitator.
The groom graduated from Texas A&M University at Kingsville in 2003 with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology and a minor in History. He is currently employed with Rio Grande City CIST at Rio Grande City High School as a Varsity Football Offensive Coordinator and Varsity Boys Head Track Coach.
