PHARR — Six dollars and a bit of frustration.
That’s what a robber left with after he held a convenience store clerk at gunpoint early Friday morning.
The armed robbery occurred about 12:30 a.m. Friday at Stripes, 1100 N. Cage Blvd., Pharr.
Police said a Hispanic man in his 20s went into the store and pointed a silver revolver at the clerk. Surveillance footage released by Pharr police shows how the robbery unfolded.
“Hey! Give me all the (expletive) money in the cash register now, man!” the robber shouted at the clerk.
“All right, man,” the clerk responded.
The clerk opened the register and emptied its meager contents, frustrating the stickup man.
“This is it, man? What the (expletive)?” the robber said as he put the bills and change into his pockets.
The robber then stormed out of the store with the $6 from the cash register, police said.
No injuries were reported.
Police said the robber stands about 5 feet 9 inches tall. He was wearing a black and white cap, a black jacket and blue pants. Witnesses said he left the store in a blue or black Ford Sport Trac pickup truck.
If arrested, the man likely will face a charge of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony punishable by up to life in prison and an optional fine of up to $10,000 upon conviction.
