Ostioneria Michoacán spices up seafood options in McAllen

FESTIVA'S BEST NEW RESTAURANTS 2012

Ostioneria Michoacán, which is set to open during the first week of February, is bringing a new flavor to Valley seafood.

The restaurant, which also has locations in Houston, boasts seafood from all throughout Mexico, says Maria Morales, who is opening the restaurant with her husband Gil Gonzalez.

“What is different about our restaurant is the culture and the way the plate is done,” Morales says. “It depends on the region of Mexico. Not necessarily every region cooks the same way. Every part has its own way of putting a dish together.”

Her personal favorite is the red snapper, prepared in the style of Veracruz. The dish is served with vegetables and grilled, which actually makes it pretty healthy.

But you’ll have to find your own favorite. Maybe bring a map of Mexico and go from there.
