Ted Nugent, the classic rock guitar hero and outspoken supporter of the Second Amendment, is coming to the Rio Grande Valley on Monday, July 5 for a show at The Donna Corn Maze.

Nugent got his musical start more than 30 years ago with The Amboy Dukes. Since leaving the group, he has established himself as a hard-rocking solo artist. His most memorable hits, all from the ‘70s, include “Strangehold,” “Free For All” and “Cat Scratch Fever,” arguably the first song everyone learns to play on the electric guitar.

In the ‘80s, he formed a rock supergroup called Damn Yankees with former members of Styx and Night Ranger. Nugent released his most recent solo album, Love Grenade, in 2007.

Nugent has also appeared all over cable programming. He has been a guest on shows including Larry King Live, The Howard Stern Show and Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher. He is an avid outdoorsman, with ranches in his home state of Michigan as well as North Texas. He is vocal in his support of hunting and gun rights.

Nugent has written three books: Kill it and Grill it, God, Guns & Rock ‘N’ Roll and Ted, White and Blue: The Nugent Manifesto. He currently hosts Ted Nugent Spirit of the Wild, a hunting, fishing and trapping lifestyle show on the Outdoor Channel.

Tickets for his Valley concert are available now for a pre-sale price of $20 at Pueblo Tires locations and The RGV Magazine office, located at 5401 N. 10th St. Tickets cost $35 on the day of the show. The Donna Corn Maze is located at 807 N. Valley View Road in Donna.

Local glam rock group Black Tora will open for The Nuge.
