PHARR | CRASH

An afternoon wreck left a motorcyclist in the hospital Tuesday afternoon, Pharr police said.

The man was transported to McAllen Medical Center after the crash sent his motorcycle skidding out of control near the intersection of Nolana Loop and Jackson Road in Pharr about 2 p.m.

Pharr police spokesman Guadalupe Salinas said the man was in stable condition Tuesday afternoon. He did not appear to suffer life-threatening injuries from the wreck, Salinas said.

McALLEN | BP RESCUE

A Border Patrol agent freed a local farmer caught between heavy farming machinery Saturday.

Agent Alfonso Lopez was patrolling an area near Bentsen State Park when he noticed a farmer waving him down from afar, according to a news release issued Tuesday by the U.S. Border Patrol.

When Lopez approached the farmer, he realized the man's leg was caught by equipment hydraulics between a tractor and a hay bailer.

Lopez disengaged the levers to loosen the hydraulics and allow Justin Acevedo to free himself.

Other than swelling and bruising, Acevedo is "faring well," according to the news release.
