An 18-year-old Edinburg woman was killed in a Saturday morning roll-over accident, authorities said.

Deidra Rae Romero died from injuries suffered when she was ejected from a truck while traveling westbound on Farm-to-Market Road 490 near the intersection with Farm-to-Market Road 493 just before 1 a.m, said Tropper Johnny Hernandez, a Texas Depart-ment of Public Safety spokesman.

She was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at McAllen Medical Center, he said.

Authorities are now investigating whether to charge the 19-year-old male teenage driver of the truck, who was driving at an unsafe speed when he lost control and rolled the vehicle, in Romero's death, Hernandez said.

MISSION | STABBING
Police are searching for several teenage suspects involved in the Friday night stabbing of a 23-year-old Mission man.
Apparently several teens attacked the man and his brother near the intersection of Second Street and Miller Avenue about 11:30 p.m. Friday, said Lt. Martin Garza, a Mission police spokesman.

While his brother escaped, the 23-year-old man who authorities declined to identify received three stab wounds and five staples in his head from a blow suffered during the assault, Garza said.

Police have few leads on the teenagers but said that they are looking for a black Pontiac Grand Prix in connection with the assault.

MISSION | DEAD BODY
Authorities suspect a man found floating in the Rio Grande Saturday morning drowned while trying to swim across the river.

The man who was discovered about 10:30 a.m. near the North American Butterfly Association International Butterfly Park in Mission is a suspected illegal immigrant, said Lt. Martin Garza, a Mission police spokesman.

No foul play is suspected in the man's death, but an autopsy has been ordered, Garza said.
